E3 Youth

Professional Development Day

Our day-long E3 Professional Development Day programs are filled with multiple workshops, speakers, and skill-building activities. We Engage the youth who attend in developing their strengths, interests, and talents. We Educate them with practical knowledge for succeeding in real-world employment scenarios, and Empower them with connections to community stakeholders that can assist them in setting goals for their future.

An E3 Professional Day might look like?

Workshops can run concurrently or continuously, depending on the number of youth attending. We know that researchers have attributed recidivism among justice-involved youth to several factors, including inadequate skills necessary for employment.  We are committed to providing opportunities to empower youth with the knowledge and skills they need to make positive decisions for a successful future.

Here is a sample agenda:

(60 Minutes) – Brief discussion, tips, and suggestions for a successful interview. With the help of PPOC volunteers, youth then participate in mock interviews, with feedback provided after each regarding strengths and suggestions for improvement.

(Approximately 30-60 Minutes) – What is and isn’t appropriate for an interview, plus tips and tricks for adding to existing outfits.  Then it’s time to shop! PPOC provides at least one item or outfit for each youth to take home.

(180 minutes) This workshop is divided into two 90-minute workshops, with business professionals present at each.  Presenters are allotted 15 minutes to speak and given a guide on what information will be most valuable to share.  If youth can be polled prior to the event to ask what careers they are interested in learning more about, we make every effort to bring professionals from those fields to speak to them.

(45-60 Minutes) – In addition to someone who complements our PDD content, we secure speakers who inspire the youth, and that provide two or three new ideas or strategies they can take away and implement to create positive change in their lives for a better future.

(45-60 Minutes) Strategies for the future from a financial standpoint.
